Innoswitch3-TN SR pin usage on secondary side

Posted by: boardlogics on

Hello,

I am a beginner in AC-DC converts design, Can we use innoswitch3-TN with out connecting SR pin to FET. If we are not using , can we leave floating or connect something ?

My basic idea is to remove FET and use a diode for rectification to have additional cost benefit.

Is there any reference design with single 12V/1A output,

Hi boardlogics,

You may refer to page 18-19 of the Application Note (AN-72) for the InnoSwitch3 Family Design Guide on how the SR pin operates. The use of a SR FET generally provides significant efficiency improvement with low cost of low voltage MOSFETs. In case a fast recovery or a Schottky diode is to be used, you can connect the SR pin to GND.

You can find more information on designing a power supply using InnoSwitch3 family devices here:

Thank you for using PI Forum.
